DAUGHTERS OF THE REVOLUTION

“We are the daughters of the revolution: the Industrial Revolution, the Sexual Revolution, the Feminist Revolution and here we are again still on the public stage and still required to perform, to labor.”

What happens when the most intimate, life-altering moments in someone’s life occur in a public place?

This is a question any woman who has given birth in a hospital knows the answer to.

4elements is currently working on a piece looking at the intersection of public and private that exists within the experience of maternity in Ireland.

What does it mean to give birth in a time of rising birthrates, declining economic prospects, and continuous cuts to the Health Service?

We ask women to tell their own stories, all the stories; the nursery rhymes and fairy-tales, the myths, legends, and horror stories, the stories that are often overlooked, over-ruled, and overwhelmed.
